I’ve always had a love for photography since I was old enough to remember. There was just something amazing about being able to capture that memory on camera and preserve it for a lifetime. At the age of 16 I was fortunate enough to get enrolled at the photography program at Miami Career technology Center (MVCTC) in Ohio. It’s a two year program for high school students were you spend half you school day in a photography program. This changed my life forever. I was entranced by the photography world. I knew I had found what I would be doing the rest of my life and I soaked up every bit of information I could, and still do today. I became top of my photography class and stayed that way through graduation. I’d also like to take this time to say a special thank you two my two instructors Mr. Tucker and Mr. Vada. They were two great photography instructors that changed my life. I graduated with the class of 1997 and went on to the Ohio Institute of Photography (OIPT) to get my Associate Degree In Photography. At OIPT I furthered my education in photography and graphics design with all kinds of lighting and computer courses. While there, not only did I learn a great deal but also was fortunate enough to win some awards, had two prints published in the yearly calendar, and even designed the logo to be used for the “bowl for tots” charity program. By the time I graduated in 2001 I had went from a novice at the age of 16 to an asset for any client or studio. I’ve worked for several photographers in my area and have been an employee of Ro-bert Kn-oll Studio (RKS) since 1997, at which I’m currently employed. I must admit though, no matter what you learn in school, nothing is better than firsthand experience. RKS has allowed me to learn so much which I’m truly grateful for. I am the backbone of the studio. I handle the majority of the session including all the processing on the backend from custom made digital artwork to extensive retouching and restoration. I’m also very active in customer service form ordering to scheduling jobs with clients. I had to personally take a film studio and convert it digital and also instruct other employees on the process even the owner. I am not afraid of a challenge. One of the great things about the photography world is that challenges are presented every day. It makes you stay alert in your field and to always keep learning. Photography is an ever changing now and unless you constantly read up on what’s going on in your field you will be left behind. I love all kinds of photography but my passion is portraiture and landscapes. I love working with High School Seniors. The age they are at and the point in their life, just makes them very unique clients to work with. Then also being able to share in such a special moment in their life that they will always look back on is just amazing. Working with people in general has always come naturally to me, I try to always remember your working for the client, the client is not working for you. It’s your job as the photographer is to give the client what they want, not what you think they should want. You have to be able to communicate your ideas, but first you have to able to listen. Landscapes are also such a wonderful image to capture because it really makes you appreciate just how amazing the world can be when you take time to look at it through a camera lens. At present I’m currently looking into moving down south to move to a location I love, the Great Smoky Mountain area. Its a majestic place and I’m looking for an opportunity to live near such a beautiful area. If you are interested in my work and live in the surrounding areas like Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, Asheville or anywhere close to those areas, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
